Yhteisön lausunnot ja pöytäkirjat
Based on their culture, spirituality and worldviews, the custodians and communities of scared natural sites have developed statements and protocols themselves. These protocols and guidelines are aimed to help safeguard their sacred natural sites and related cultural responsibilities from threats posed by outside developments such as industrial development (mining and forestry) but also scientific research or unsustainable tourism and conservation for example.
Sectoral/External protocols and guidelines
In many of the sectors and areas that potentially or directly affect sacred natural sites, codes of conduct, protokollat, guidelines or measure for free prior and informed consent may already exist. This guidance forms a useful point of reference to people working with sacred natural sites, their custodians and communities and this page therefore aims to provide an overview to these materials. Key messages and declarations
Sacred natural sites are increasingly being recognised and valued as important to the preservation of biocultural diversity and numerous other reasons. Because of this they are increasingly receiving attention in international conventions, meetings and symposia. Where these events have resulted into specific key messages, resolutions or statements we aim to provide those on this website.
