In 2012 at IUCNs 5th World Conservation Congress in Jeju, South Korea a motion on the conservation of sacred natural sites was proposed under the coordination of the Sacred Land Film Project, the IUCN Specialist group on Cultural and Spiritual Values of protected Areas, the Gaia Foundation, United Nations University's traditional Knowledge Inititative and the Sacred Natural Sites Initiative. Priekšlikums tika pieņemts ar 99% atbalstu no visām NVO un 95% atbalstu no visām valdības partijām, kuras piedalījās konferencē, un pārvērtās rezolūcijā. The resolution now supports and mandates those working in the protection, conservation and revitalisations of sacred natural sites to act in support of custodian protocols and customary laws.
