Durant abril 2013 vídeo participatiu (PV) la capacitació es va dur a terme a la localitat de Sant Andreu Sacjabja al districte de Quiché a Guatemala. L'entrenament era una part d'un compromís a llarg termini dels custodis dels llocs sagrats al districte de Quiché amb 'Oxlajuj Ajpop' (una organització indígena maia) en col · laboració amb la Sagrada Iniciativa Llocs Naturals. El programa, funded by Hoja Verde Foundation, objectius per a la millora de la comunitat sostenible i culturalment apropiada i- la silvicultura i la gestió dels recursos naturals.

La formació que participen 19 membres de les comunitats de Bona Vista i Rij Juyub, al municipi de Sant Andreu Sajcabajá, i 2 from the community of Chupol in the Chichicastenango municipality. Four members from San Andres Sajcabaja completed the entire training, mentre 2 membres de Chupol completar els aspectes tècnics de la capacitació en preparació per dur a terme la seva pròpia formació vídeo participatiu en una data posterior.

Village elders and custodians were interviewed and opinions and recommendations sought as part of the film-making. The training exercise culminated in participatory editing and showing to community members. The films are in the local language of Quiché and will soon be subtitled in both Spanish and English.

Recommendations have been given by villagers for actions needed to conserve remaining forests and sacred natural sites with a great emphasis on awareness raising and community organization. The application of local and national laws relevant to forest and sacred site protection is key to this and has been discussed by the villagers as part of the film and the participatory process that lead up to it.
